Nurturing Potential,
Building Futures
Every person is born with a seed of greatness. We are here to water it.
Who We Are
ACASAI (After School Study Assistance Initiative) is a Section 18A registered PBO, registered in September 2020 and operational since May 2022. Acasai is a community-based programme focused on supporting learners from Grade 4 to Grade 11 across Bonteheuwel, Parow, Heideveld, and Bishop Lavis.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the organisation was dormant from 2020 until 2022, from when we became actively involved in the Parow community.
Due to the financial difficulties experienced by our communities, these services were offered at no cost to learners and currently a nominal registration fee of R350 per annum is charged.
Our Vision
Where today's leaders help tomorrow's leaders to reach their full potential.
Our Mission
Standing in the gap by providing mentorship and academic support to benefit the future of the children in our communities.
Core Values
The AIR we breathe:
- A - Accountability – Taking ownership of what we do.
- I - Integrity – Doing what we say.
- R - Respect – For others and oneself.
The Challenge We Face
In the Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube’s address on the 2025 matric results a record-breaking 88% pass rate was celebrated, while acknowledging the severe challenge of learner retention.

Our Solution
The Afterschool Study Assistance Initiative (ACASAI) has joined the crusade of teaching learners how to retain information, in the hope of transforming them into students with brilliant minds.
We recruit retired teachers, university students, from various faculties, as volunteers, to assist both high school (grades 8-11) and primary school learners (grades 4-7) with their schoolwork in the afternoons, assisting with all subjects covered in the CAPS curriculum.
Over the last 3 years we have assisted more than 100 learners to transition from the Intermediate Phase to the Senior Phase and others to the FET Phase.

Our Comprehensive Programs
We believe in the holistic development of our learners.
Academic Support
Assisting high school (grades 8-11) and primary school learners (grades 4-7) with homework, projects, revision, and study methods.
Literacy Pilot Program
Launched February 2026, targeting Grades 1 to 3 to mentor young learners in essential reading skills, phonics, and comprehension before they reach Grade 4.
Emotional Support
Creating a space where learners are seen, supported, and encouraged to process challenges and develop healthy coping strategies.
Feeding Scheme
Providing sandwiches, fruit, and juice to our learners and children frequenting the library daily, proudly supported by Blue Ribbon, In2Food, and Rainbow of Hope.
Community Enrichment
Offering beyond-the-classroom activities like swimming lessons and interacting with the elderly to learn valuable life lessons.
Training & Monitoring
Providing Scribe and Reading training for special needs learners, and utilizing a visual traffic light approach for Monitoring & Evaluation.
